The quality development of local youth work needs …

regular and up to date mappings of local realities and needs.

The needs and interests of young people as well as the composition of the group “young people” is constantly changing. Economic factors as well as migration, new innovations and political trends are all affecting the living situation of young people. The effects that these changes have on the needs and interests of young people need to be mapped and analysed if youth work is to meet them in the best possible way.

Questions to discuss

  • Is youth work doing regular mappings of local realities and needs?
    • Do these mappings show differences in living situations and needs between different groups, e.g. differences in school results and mental health between girls and boys?
  • What are the risks of not having up-dated knowledge on the living situation and needs of young people?
